Bowen Center 2025 Spotlight: Media Year in Review

As we look back on 2025, the Emma L. Bowen Community Service Center is proud of the growing recognition our work received across local, citywide, and international media. This coverage did more than highlight our programs—it elevated the people, partnerships, and communities that bring our mission to life every day.

Throughout the year, the Bowen Center was part of a broader public conversation about what equitable, effective community-based care should look like in New York City. From hosting the first-ever NOH8 Campaign event in Harlem to expanding food access for federal workers during the government shutdown, our work reflected both the urgency of community needs and the power of trusted, neighborhood-based solutions. This recognition is a testament to nearly four decades of service and to the dedication of our staff, whose compassion, professionalism, and leadership were consistently honored in 2025.

2025 marked a year defined by increased visibility, accountability, and measurable progress. This media year in review reflects that momentum. Each story underscores a simple truth: community-based care matters, and when it is delivered with compassion, integrity, and excellence, it resonates far beyond our walls.

Our thanks to the journalists and news organizations who helped tell these stories, to the partners and funders who made this work possible, and most importantly, to the individuals and families who trust the Bowen Center with their care.
