The Emma L. Bowen Community Services Center Therapeutic Preschool program (TPS) prepares preschoolers with developmental and emotional difficulties for academic success!
Certified teachers and therapists work with preschool children aged 3-5 with emotional and behavioral difficulties and cognitive and language delays in smaller classroom settings.
Our holistic curriculum includes speech and occupational therapy, physical therapy and mental health services, sensory, fine motor, and gross motor skill training. Students meet regularly with individual therapists to review academic milestones with therapeutic goals, and parents and guardians are encouraged to participate.
Teachers assist and advise parents on strategies for toilet training and various parenting techniques. Classes take field trips outside and inside the Center community; special holiday events include a march on Martin Luther King Day, trick-or-treating around the Center on Halloween, and a Christmas party featuring Santa Claus.
Our mission is to provide behavioral and educational services in a caring environment where children and their families find strength, guidance, healing, hope and trust.
To attend, children must have been evaluated, have an IEP from the school district through the Department of Education Committee on Preschool Education.
TPS is in session weekdays from 8:30am to 2:00pm, from September to mid-August.
