Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Sandra Denis, Chief Medical Officer, comes to the Bowen Center with prior leadership roles at two managed care organizations as the Behavioral Health Medical Director at TRICARE-Humana Government Business and Emblem Health. She brings vast experience on strategic initiatives such as the 2018 OMH Performance Opportunity Project; Perinatal Psychiatry; and the NCQA Alcohol Learning Collaborative. Dr. Denis has served as the Chief Behavioral Health Officer at Morris Heights Health Center, NY; Chief Medical Officer (CMO) at Clarks Summit State Hospital, PA; and as the Medical Director of two Substance Use Disorder Centers and a Telehealth Platform, as well as an Attending Psychiatrist working at different levels of care.

Dr. Denis is Board Certified in Psychiatry as well as Health Care Quality & Management. She is Fellowship-Trained in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Denis graduated from Rutgers. University with a BS in Medical Technology, received her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship from UMDNJ and St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan-New York Medical College. She is an MBA-Candidate with the Jack Welch Management Institute MBA Program.

She has vast experience within the different sectors of healthcare, including working on the full implementation of the AIMS Collaborative Model, and she was on the Board of Advisors for the Doula Program, Okkanti. She has a strong conviction for the integration of care services for a holistic approach of care.
