LGBTQ+ Services
LGBTQ+ individuals often face unique challenges related to stigma, discrimination, family rejection, and limited access to affirming care, all of which can significantly impact mental health and overall well being. Providing safe, inclusive, and affirming environments is essential to supporting healing, resilience, and long term stability.
The Bowen Center is committed to delivering affirming behavioral health services for LGBTQ+ individuals of all ages, through a comprehensive and responsive approach that honors the diversity of identities, lived experiences, and strengths within the community. Services address emotional, psychological, and social needs and are fully integrated within the Center’s broader continuum of behavioral health care.
Bowen maintains a strong and ongoing partnership with the Ali Forney Center, enhancing referral pathways and collaboration in support of LGBTQ+ individuals, including those experiencing housing instability. In addition, Bowen staff have completed intensive training focused on LGBTQ+ issues, cultural humility, and affirming clinical practices to ensure care is delivered with competence, respect, and understanding.
Clinicians work closely with LGBTQ+ individuals and their chosen families to support treatment for depression, anxiety, trauma related conditions, minority stress, substance use concerns, grief and loss, and social isolation, as well as the emotional impact of discrimination or rejection. Care is trauma informed and culturally responsive, with attention to identity related stressors, family and interpersonal relationships, and environmental challenges that may affect stability and overall well being.
Consistent with the Bowen Center’s commitment to integrated, person centered treatment, services for LGBTQ+ individuals welcome those with co occurring mental health and substance use disorders and provide coordinated care throughout each stage of treatment. By offering essential behavioral health services within a single, compassionate, and affirming setting, the Center promotes continuity in therapeutic relationships, reduces barriers to care, and supports LGBTQ+ individuals in building resilience, strengthening connection, and achieving long term recovery and wellness.
